Dinner is Served in Bernal Heights at Hillside Supper Club and Eat at 903! Two tasty pieces of news came out of Bernal Heights this week:  Grubstreet revealed that Hillside Supper Club is opening their full-on brick and mortar location on January 24th in the former Caffe Cozzolino space at 300 Precita Avenue; and Eat at 903 has brought back their dinner service with a izakaya-style menu.  More culinary choices in this little hamlet are always welcomed with open arms!

Formerly known as "Bernal Supper Club", Hillside Supper Club spent the past year building a solid following as a pop-up.  It is great to see the chef-team of Jonathan Sutton and Tony Ferrari putting down more substantial roots -- they need to keep making their brand of "comfortable food, no pressure" that they've been delivering since 2011.  Thankfully, Todd Lappin is leading Bernal's historical preservation and archiving efforts over at Bernalwood and the history of the Supper Club's fantastic adventure has been digitally recorded for posterity.  Check out the delicious fare on one of their recent menus (the $32 3-course Prix Fixe option is the deal of the century!) and then make a reservation to eat it all.

Now, over to 903's news. I admit to shedding a tear when Eat at 903 announced a few months ago that they would be temporarily suspending dinner service.  Each time I give into my craving for their huevos rancheros (and that is often), I check the sign on the front door to see if they have restored their supper offerings.  At my last check-in a couple of weeks ago, there was no change. Then, the other day an email appeared in my inbox and told me this:

...[S]tarting today, the much-anticipated dinner service will resume. Wednesday through Friday from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm 903 will offer an izakaya-style (small plate) dine-in menu.  There will also be a take-out dinner menu available online at www.eat903.com.

A few other changes happening at Eat at 903 on Cortland Ave :

• New weekday lunch hours are 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday.
• Many of the sandwiches that have been on the menu will now be offered grab-and-go style at Sandbox Bakery.
• Lunch service will remain the same on Saturdays & Sundays,  9:00 am - 3:00 pm, with breakfast items available all day.

For easy access to all the amazing food, coffee and bakery goods in Bernal a person needs a single-family house located a short walk from Cortland Avenue and a pied-a-terre off of Folsom Street on the North slope of Bernal Heights! Then again, there's always the #67 Muni Bus.
