The CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts in San Francisco has a New Year's resolution for 2013: move the Institute's Kent and Vicki Logan Galleries to a newly renovated, light-filled, Mark Jensen-designed gallery and event space in Potrero Hill and have the first shows in the new space be extra amazing and cutting edge. It makes all of those "Lose 10 lbs by Valentine's Day" promises sound so boring, doesn't it?
The opening reception for the Institute's new Kansas Street exhibition space takes place on January 22, 2013 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and 2 new installations will be unveiled that evening: Paris-based artist Claire Fontaine's "Claire Fontaine: Redemptions" and "The Way Beyond Art 4: Infinite Screens", a video installation featuring a solo project by director Werner Herzog.
The Wattis has a calendar packed full with cool events and programs. For example, join artist Claire Fontaine for "Claire Fontaine in Conversation with Jason E. Smith" on January 23 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and hear her talk about her new installation "Redemptions" as well as her larger body of work. There is also a weekly lecture program at the Institute, "Infinite Screens Talk Series", presented by selected CCA Film Faculty which build on the content in the "Infinite Screens" exhibition.
